The past three weeks have provided me with new skills, new friends, and tons of memories. This week in particular has definitely been one for the books. My internship has kept me busy, but I’ve also made plenty of time for friends and fun.
My internship at Escalate has helped me know what work needs to be prioritized and what can go on the backburner. So far, I’ve met all of my deadlines, as time management is something I know I excel at. There is a little bit of collaboration needed at my organization, so I have gotten better at working with people from other cultures.
Communication plays a big role at Escalate. We use Monday.com to display what tasks we are working on for the week and how they are coming along. At the beginning of each week, we also have a team meeting to go over what we’ve completed, goals for the week, and tasks we need to start working on. Additionally, the team communicates through email quite often. Keeping each other in the loop of what we are working on is extremely important to the success of the organization.
There are a few acronyms that I have become familiar with at Escalate. For example, CC is the abbreviation for content calendar, and FMI stands for Franchise Marketing Ireland. I picked up on these quickly, as they are fairly obvious based on the tasks we have been assigned. When it comes to language, people here often say “grand” or “sound.” This is not unique to Escalate, but Ireland in general.
Outside of work, this week has been “grand”! This past Friday, Faith and I went with a few of our friends to tour the Guinness Storehouse. We got to go to the Gravity Bar for a 360-degree view of Dublin while drinking a pint of Guinness. Later that night, we went out to a couple of our favorite pubs. As the Irish would say, it was a bit of craic! The next day, Faith and I got to go to the Taste of Dublin food festival (thanks to our bosses for providing us with free tickets!!!). It was a super cool experience, as neither of us had ever been to a food festival before. We got to try some black and white pudding and Irish sausage, as well as a bunch of other samples of food and whiskey! My pictures this week (see below 😊) are from Taste of Dublin. There were so many cute photo ops at the festival!

On Monday, it was one of our friends’ 21st birthdays, so we went to the pub to celebrate. Tuesday, I made a few new friends from the API group that just arrived last week, and we sat on the rooftop talking for hours on end. Tonight, some of my friends (old and new!) and I are going out to the pubs. Tomorrow, I have an exam, then I might go to Trinity College, as I haven’t been inside yet. Saturday, we have a group excursion to Causey Farms, which will be an all-day event. Finally, Sunday will probably be a day to rest and recuperate in order to help me prepare for another upcoming week in Dublin!
